2026 RATE INCREASE

Dear TEC Members,

At Tanner Electric Cooperative, our mission has always been to provide reliable, safe, and sustainable electric service to our members. As a not-for-profit cooperative, every decision we make is guided by our commitment to serve you — our member-owners — and to ensure the long-term stability of the system we all depend on.

We have seen substantial cost increases over the past 5 years, but through thoughtful financial stewardship we have been able to offset some of those costs while only having one 3% variable rate increase and one 1% fixed rate increase in that 5-year timeframe. In fact, our kWh rate has only changed once in the last 10 years.

After a thorough review of costs and future needs, the Board of Directors have approved a rate increase effective January 1, 2026. Residential rates will see a 2% increase in fixed charges and a 6% increase to the variable kWh rate, and all other rate classes will see a 6% increase in their bill.

How does this affect your bill? For our average residential member that consumes 800 kWh in a month, your new bill would increase about $6.13 ($1.17 fixed charges + $4.96 kWh use).

Recognizing our limited historical rate changes, this adjustment is necessary to keep pace with rising costs in power generation, transmission, materials, and labor, as well as to continue investing in system improvements and reliability upgrades.

Even with this adjustment, Tanner’s rates remain among the most competitive in the region. We understand that any rate increase can be difficult, and we’re here to help. Members are encouraged to explore our energy efficiency programs, budget billing, and payment assistance options or by calling our office at 425-888-0623.

Thank you for your continued support, and together we’ll continue powering our community with reliable electricity — owned by those we serve.
