If The Power Goes Out
|
|
Occasional outages still occur due to factors beyond our control,
such as storms, auto accidents, tree and animal related causes, and
equipment failure. We will make every effort to restore your power
as quickly as possible when interruptions of electrical service do
occur. With planned outages (scheduled to allow for repairs or
upgrades), we will make every effort to inform you in advance.

Life Support/Medical Equipment Dependent Members
|

|
Continued electrical service is particularly important for our
members who depend on life support and other medical equipment.
Tanner Electric Cooperative maintains a list of such members.

Planned Outages
|
|
On the occasion of a planned outage (scheduled to allow for
repairs or upgrades), every attempt is made to contact affected
life support/medical equipment users to ensure that they are
aware of the time and duration of the planned outage.

Power Outages
|
|
In the event of a power outage, it is important that you have
emergency backup power sufficient to operate your life
support/medical equipment. Due to system limitations,
Tanner Electric Cooperative is not able to provide priority
response tolife support/medical equipment members in the
restoration process. This makes it imperative that members
with special needs take precautions in case the power is out
for extended periods of time. Contact Tanner Electric for
information regarding available backup power options.

What to do During a Power Failure
|
| |
If you lose power in your home or office, first check for
popped breakers in your breaker panel (or blown fuses in
old systems). To reset a tripped breaker, you need to flip
the breaker all the way to the off position before returning
it to the on position. If the problem is not in your panel,
call Tanner Electric Cooperative immediately to report your
outage at 425-888-0623.
If calling during our normal business hours (see bottom of
this page), and we are unable to answer your call please leave
a message with your name, phone number, and an address so that
we can get back with you as soon as possible.
If it is a widespread outage and you get routed to our
overflow off-site message, you will not be able to leave a
message. We do try to update this message as quickly as
possible to keep you informed. Please give it a few minutes
and call back.

Electrical Safety Information
|

|
Learn & share with your family these electrical safety rules:
|

Outdoors, look up and be aware of any power transmission
lines near you! Be extra aware of your surroundings when
working with excavation equipment, ladders or other tall
equipment or when in a sailboat. Coming in contact with
power lines can be deadly.

Teach your children about electrical safety. Never allow
them to fly a kite or climb a tree near a power line.

Do not work with, handle or repair any of Tanner Electric
Cooperative's electrical equipment.

NEVER touch or attempt to pick up a fallen power line.
If you see a downed power line or pole, get away and call
Tanner Electric Cooperative immediately!

Report any substation or power line, pole, security light,
or transformer vandalism to Tanner Electric Cooperative.

Make sure new appliances or equipment purchases carry the
Underwriters Laboratory's or other certified lab's approval.
The UL label should apply to the entire appliance, not just
the cord or plug.

Never run electric cords under a carpet or through a doorway.
Check cords often for fraying and signs of wear and replace
them immediately if damaged. Do not repair or patch a frayed
cord.

Ground all tools and appliances properly. If you use a
three-prong plug in a two wire socket, be sure to use a
properly grounded adapter.

Because water conducts electricity, do not use appliances
or power tools while your hands are damp or while standing
in or near water. Do not use electric toenail or nose hair
clippers in the tub!
