Tanner AMI ProjectTanner Electric Utility has initiated an Advanced Metering Infrastructure (AMI) program for its electric meters. The AMI program will begin with the installation of electronic meters in the Ames Lake area. We will begin removing the existing meters and installing the electronic meters immediately and should finish the installation of all meters by the end of this year. The new electronic meters will be able to communicate directly to and from the Tanner office. We will be able to read your meter without having a person go to your house or business and read the meter. We will also be able to determine during a power outage which members do not have power allowing us to dispatch repair crews more quickly to the exact location of the outage. Later on, we plan to allow each member access to their and only their daily usage and billing information via the internet. Of course, there may be other types of activities added that will take advantage of the two-way communication. Tanner employees will be installing the meters. At each meter location, an employee will knock on your door to tell you what is happening. There will be a short outage, probably less than five minutes, during the installation. In rare cases, the meter base may be already deteriorated and require replacement in which case Tanner will make arrangements with a qualified electrician to replace the meter base. Please call the Tanner office at 425-888-0623 if you have any questions or concerns. |
